Osceola, Wi | Lily Springs Farm Summer Wedding | Erik & Katherine

It was a beautiful day for an outdoor Mid-West wedding :) Katherine and Erik got married at the Beautiful Lily Springs Farm in Osceola, Wisconsin on a perfect summer day in September! They had an intimate ceremony and reception and enjoyed great food and drink from Eat for Equity and The Angry Minnow Brewery from Hayward, WI. I hope you enjoy looking back at their special day.

How Katherine met Erik |

Erik and I met one of the first few weeks of our first year at St. Olaf. I was a Freshman and he had just transferred. We were both at the Limestones concert (A Capella group) celebrating the start of the school year. I remember seeing him across the room, he was tall, very handsome, and he was wearing a fly fishing t-shirt. I remember thinking to myself, "ooh he's cute and he's outdoorsy!". In my first year excitement, I walked right up to him, in the middle of his group of friends (all 6 ft 5 and taller) and asked him if he fly fished. He looks down at his shirt, then farther down at me and says "yep". This is where our stories differ. My version: he walks away with his group of friends. His version: I run away giggling. Regardless of who was right, we didn't end up seeing each other for the next two and a half years, until my Junior year. He had just returned from studying abroad in Australia(!) and I was living with a bunch of his study abroad friends. We reconnected over our shared love for the outdoors, cross-country skiing, and Mamma Mia. In fact, for our first date we went cross country skiing and then later watched Mamma Mia while eating cheese cake and drinking Port wine. Yes, he set the bar high :) After a few weeks of dating, I left to study abroad in Germany. We wrote letters to each other while I was oversees and when I came back home, he met me in Seattle and that was the beginning of our relationship. We've did over 6 years of distance - across continents, across the country, and in the same state. Our love for the outdoors, and of course each other, allowed the distance to work. But now that we are finally together, in the same place, I couldn't be happier. Now we get to travel and explore together!

What Katherine loves about Erik |

“Erik can make just about anyone smile (probably everyone... even the Grinch :) ). He has this amazing ability to connect with people and make them feel special. He has an incredibly big heart and lights up a room with his kindness, laughter, and sense of humor. I love the way he makes me want to be the best version of myself. I love the way he hugs me, kisses me, and makes me feel safe. I love the way he can make me feel calm and at peace.... even when life gives us lemons.”
