Hanna and Ben are married! Saturday, June 22nd was supposed to be rainy all day long, so everyone was a little nervous heading into the big day. However, the weather decided to cooperate with us, and we didn’t feel a single rain drop all day long! Although I will say things started to look a little ominous as we started doing family photos! Which, by the way, Hanna and Ben have some seriously awesome family members! Taking everyone’s photos was a breeze, even with Hanna’s massive extended family!
The Minneapolis Event Center was absolutely stunning! I know Hanna was nervous about the construction going on nearby, but I overheard how impressed everyone was with the venue all night long, and it is definitely one of my favorites! The Wild Orchid’s floral arrangements were drop-dead gorgeous as well! Every little detail was perfect, from the arbor to the elevated greenery and garland at the head table! And Hannah’s bouquet, let me just say “Wow!” Melissa’s (MHEvents) planning of course brought everything together in effortless fashion. I honestly wonder if the wedding guests even knew Melissa was there, working her butt off! I suppose that the sign of a good wedding planner is that all the hard work that goes into the big day looks effortless! Everything about this day was perfect, sweet, and whimsical!
Hanna and Ben are the sweetest couple ever! I know I say that about every couple, but they really are! They make everyone around them smile and feel so loved. I am so honored that I was a part of their wedding day! If you are doubting that Hanna and Ben are the cutest couple ever, let me tell you a quick little story. Right as Peter (my assistant for the day) and I were leaving for the night, we caught Hannah and Ben sneaking away from the reception, just chatting in the lobby. I think they were going for a quick walk outside. I know it sounds simple, but to see how happy they were just to be together and the smiles on their faces, it all made me so grateful to be a wedding photographer! I just cannot describe how lovely this couple is!
When I arrived, Hanna’s mom asked me if I could help make the first look a surprise to Ben instead of a staged scene. Peter took Ben outside to “take portraits” of Ben getting his suit on, and I snuck Hanna around the side of the building. Ben must have heard us, because he glanced over his shoulder. He did a full double take when he realized he was looking at his bride for the first time! It was such a precious moment to be able to capture! We had plenty of time for bride and groom photos, which is always a real blessing! Making sure there is ample time in the wedding day schedule for the couple to have photos alone is a great way for the bride and groom to hang out away from the chaos of their friends and family. Peter went to grab the wedding party, and let me tell you, this is one good looking group of people! I loved the whimsical blue dresses that the bridesmaids were rocking! A side note: my assistant/second shooter/husband Peter also crushed it! Anytime the bride or groom needed anything, he was on it! Regardless of whether or not a bride has a personal attendant on her wedding day, it’s super helpful to have someone on standby who will help out at a moment’s notice!
Honestly, days like this are the reason why I love my job as a wedding photographer in Minneapolis! The Minneapolis Events Center was beautiful, St. Anthony Main was hoppin’ (as usual), and the weather was just perfect for photos! However, it’s really all about the people. Hannah and Ben were so happy to be getting married, so full of love, and so gracious for all their friends and family. It clearly was one of the happiest days of their lives, and I am so grateful I was able to capture it for them!
